Product Update: New Features Improve COVID-19 Vaccine Communications

Posted on April 2, 2021 by Amplicare Team

As the COVID-19 vaccine rollout ramps up across the country, pharmacies are a significant part of the effort to eradicate the coronavirus pandemic. Demand for the vaccine is high, and patients are looking to their trusted healthcare providers for guidance on availability. According to a recent survey of 1390 U.S. adults, 40% said they would go to the local pharmacist to receive the COVID-19 vaccine compared to 4% who would prefer a mass vaccination event.

The high demand means that pharmacies may see an increased number of calls from patients looking for information on eligibility, availability, or appointments. As a result, it is imperative that you communicate efficiently with patients to keep them updated on the latest at the pharmacy, and free up some time to address other patient needs.

With this in mind, we recently rolled out two new features in Amplicare created to help pharmacies ensure patients are fully vaccinated and simplify communications.

In-Workflow Notifications and Text Alerts

With this update, pharmacies with Amplicare Assist capabilities now have the ability to receive notifications in-workflow when working in the profile of a patient due for their second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. The real-time nature of these notifications make it easy for pharmacists to act immediately and notify patients of an upcoming appointment.

Also new is the ability to send voice message or text reminders to patients who have an upcoming appointment for their second dose. Available through Amplicare Connect, this feature is an automated campaign which pharmacies can activate to send ongoing text or call updates about the vaccine to patients. Similar to the in-workflow notifications, these alerts help ensure that no patients are left behind given that for most available vaccines, the second dose is necessary for them to be fully protected.

With pharmacies pushed to the limit dealing with vaccinations and other daily tasks, being proactive about communications can help ensure your staff doesn’t get overwhelmed. To learn more about these new features and Amplicare Connect, schedule a consultation with us today.
